Reflection of Glass
Exhibition text This project challenged my painting skills with its sharp lines and no blending. I selected this reference image because I like the reflection of the class with the blues and yellows. I also selected this painting because of its organic and geometric shapes, I thought it would give me a good challenge, which it did. |

Process
Step 1: Set up I first started by sectioning out my photo and putting a grid on it. I also put a corresponding grid on my canvas too. This would help me a lot in the long run because it made sure everything was right. This step is one of the most important if not the most important step of the process because it is the base I build off of it. I used one inch boxes for my canvas and used half inch boxes for my reference photo. This step took me about 30 minutes in total with all the math and lines. |

I started by making one color then putting it everywhere I saw
on the canvas. Later on I switched up my technique by instead of
doing that I decided by working on each box at a time. I did this
by looking at each color in one box and making them, then putting
all of those colors on the canvas. I did this because it helped me
stay focused on my painting.

Seen in this photo, I finished the left side first and started moving my
way towards the right side. This is when I actually felt like my painting
started to come together and make me feel like I'm making progress
on it. My favorite part of this painting so far is the blues and yellows in
the painting.

Experimentation
I haven't used acrylic paints a lot so, I used this project as an excuse
to experiment with acrylic paints. I experimented most by layering
paints on top of each other. I did this because I thought it would
make my painting look better. I don't think it really made much of a
difference in my final product. In the long run, It just wasted my time
because it didn't make my painting any better.

Reflection
This project wasn't my favorite but it was
still fun stepping outside of my comfort zone and working with acrylic, is a medium I haven't had the chance to work with them much. Looking back at my project the thing I think i could improve the most is line work because I feel it was one of the weakest parts of my painting. If I did this project I would take more time on the line work so it might look better because I feel like i rushed especially near the end of the painting |
